Why Recycle?

Recycle: The possibilities are endless.Recycling is beneficial because it reduces the consumption of raw materials, reduces energy usage, creates jobs, extends the life of landfills, and reduces disposal costs. By doing your part, you can help the environment and potentially save on your trash bill.

What Can You Do? Reduce, Reuse and Recycle!

  • Reduce the amount of trash you create by not buying over-packaged products.
  • Reuse everything that you can.

Household Battery Collection

Common batteries such as AA, AAA, C Cells, D Cells, and button cell batteries (e.g. Hearing aid batteries) were banned from disposal in the trash in 2006 because they can contain heavy metals and are corrosive chemicals that can cause burns.

Recycle Fluorescent Lamps and Tubes

Flourescent Lamp RecycleDrop off lamps and tubes at designated retail stores, collection events, or centers.

Why?

All fluorescent lighting contains small amounts of mercury. Mercury is hazardous to your health, which is why California banned fluorescent lamps from disposal in the trash. If they break, mercury is released.

Please take your fluorescent lighting to Home Depot located at 2707 S Towne Avenue, Pomona.

Tire Recycling

The Tire Recycling program provides for the proper collection, disposal and management of used tires in the City by conducting collection event(s) and developing public education materials for residents.

Recycle your used tires the 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month “Free of Charge” at Pacific Tire Service located at 345 North White Avenue in Pomona.

Used Oil Recycle

The goal of the Used Oil Recycling Program provides for the proper collection and disposal of used oil and filters from residents in the City by developing public education materials and conducting collection events throughout the City. Residents can also take up to 5 gallons of used oil to a local automotive facility in Pomona. Community Clean Up

Community Clean-upDo you have old oil, bulky items, televisions, or electronics that you’re not sure what to do with? Dispose of these items properly at the Community Clean-Up Events each Spring in your Council District.
