Pomona ACTS: TCC $22 Million Grant

On January 11, 2024, the City of Pomona and The Energy Coalition held a press event to unveil the funding of Pomona ACTS. This groundbreaking initiative, backed by a $22 million Transformative Climate Communities Implementation grant from the Strategic Growth Council, encourages collaborative projects to connect residents to transportation, reduce emissions, improve public health, and boost economic opportunities. Pomona ACTS envisions a resilient, vibrant, and equitable city, addressing climate challenges while enhancing public health, shared prosperity, and community identity. The nine Pomona ACTS projects include:

Complete Streets Pedestrian and Bicycle Improvements: that will provide active transportation improvements along a central corridor of the city, including bike lanes, enhanced lighting, sidewalk improvements, landscaped medians, and intersection improvements.

Metro Transit Pass Program: that will launch the “Metro Transit Pass Program” which will provide passes to low-income students, seniors, and disabled residents within the project area.

E-Bike Library and Rebates: that will provide free e-bikes to local residents annually.

EV Chargers and EV Adoption Education Campaign: that will install and maintain EV chargers while conducting an outreach campaign to promote EV adoption.

Resilient and Healthy Homes: that will install solar, batteries, and electrification measures in order to increase energy resilience and improve air quality in homes.

Residential Cool Roofs: that will replace roofs on homes with cool roofs.

Community Energy Resilience Centers: that will install solar, battery storage, and energy efficiency upgrades at Pomona Public Library and Palomares Park Community Center to create a Community Resilience Center.

Tree planting: that will plant street trees in the project area and provide follow-up maintenance to make sure the trees thrive.

Community Urban Farm: that will expand the infrastructure at Lopez Urban Farm to improve local access to healthy food and improve community health outcomes.
