Office of Violence Prevention and Neighborhood Wellbeing

Mayor Tim Sandoval and City Manager James Makshanoff proudly introduce Dr. Pedro R. Payne as the leader of the newly established Office of Violence Prevention.

Dr. Payne will drive evidence-based crime reduction initiatives, focusing on high-need community neighborhoods. The City of Pomona establishes the Office of Violence Prevention and Neighborhood Wellbeing with major funding from the BSCC California Violence Intervention and Prevention (CalVIP) grant.

This division operates under the City Manager's Office, aiming to collaborate with the Pomona Police Department and local agencies, forming the Pomona Partnership for Violence Prevention. Their role is pivotal in reducing violence citywide.
