Due to specific impacts to retail employees during the COVID-19 pandemic, the City Council enacted a requirement for “HERO Pay” for designated employees in the retail sector. These designated employees have been classified as essential and have continued to perform their duties in the front-lines of the pandemic.
The “HERO Pay” ordinance requires qualifying retail establishments within the City of Pomona to provide premium pay of an additional $4.00 per hour to their workers for at least 120 days. This requirement went into effect immediately on March 1, 2021 and will be in place until June 29, 2021, unless it is extended by the City Council. See our ordinance here and Fact Sheets here.
